Learning about Web Stats
May13
I don’t keep tabs on the web stats for this site. I’m not selling anything or engaged in any popularity contests, so I haven’t checked out the stats since the first few days after I started this blog. But in preparation for launching the website for my software product, I am researching web stats and how to use them. First stop was the stats for this blog. I didn’t expect much since I hardly get any comments on my posts, but I was surprised I was getting so many visitors and hits (relatively speaking, of course):
| Month | Unique visitors | Number of visits | Pages | Hits |
| Mar 2005 | 92 | 344 | 1,512 | 2,949 |
| Apr 2005 | 920 | 3,337 | 7,423 | 14,543 |
| May 2005 | 539 | 2,856 | 5,899 | 8,872 |
May’s barely started and if thing’s keep up like this, I’m on par to break 2,000 unique visitors and 32,000 hits this month.
So I’m curious, who are you lurkers??? I’m not usually a comment whore, but just this once, please leave a comment and introduce yourselves, or just leave me your website address if you have one! I’d like to know you!
Update 5/8/05 evening: Or if you don’t want to leave a public trail on the Internet, email me! (eric@freefrom9to5.com) I totally understand and I’d still love to hear from you.

Hey Eric. I subscribed to your feed a few weeks ago. Can’t remember anymore how I ended up at your site, but looking forward to following your progress with your software project, hoping some day you can leave the the 9-5 job (a goal we share!)
Best of luck, Lisa

I read your blog as if it was a bible!
I’m someone who badly needs to be free from 9-5. I tried leaving *major-ass-kicking* jobs twice to start businesses; but failed. I found your blog thru another site (microISV?); and I’m interested in your progress very, very, much.
Keep it going, and do something for us: blog-less ppl.

I particularly liked your “Don’t want to be a Corporate Sheep” post. Good luck with that!

I’m a 9 to 5 ‘er, sort of. I have my own small software consulting and web hosting business, but am trying to find that one idea to make the jump into ISV land and leave the 9 to 5 paid by the hour life style.

I’m a programmer by trade and Indie game developer by night. My dream is to eventually support myself selling games online and quit working for the man. It has been a long haul so far (I started in 2001) I suffer from three common afflictions of Indies’: technology churn, do-it-all-yourself-itous and biting off more than you can chew. Hopefully, I’ve finally settle into a plan and technology that fit my strengths, and isn’t too ambitious. I’m sure looking back one day I value my tenacity to stick with it this long but right now it just feels like I’m foolishly thrashing about.

Dawg!!
I thought you would NEVER ask.
Gladly. I will proudly post a comment.
My name is Brandon. I am a microISV wannabe and my claim to fame is currently Tech. Support at a large software shop in Utah Valley, Utah.
Dawg, keep writing! Keep us informed of your software product.
BTW, feel free to link-whore me on your front page. I can’t resist bringing that up with the stats you have discovered.

I’ve been reading your blog for the past few weeks. Not sure how I ended up here
Over the past four years I’ve been selling, via my web site and some other channels, some software I developed. I’m currently in the process of branding everything and moving into the Windows software arena with some different types of products. Made a little money over that time. Learned a lot about marketing and the business side of things. The programming part is the easy part
I wish you well–perhaps you’re site is becoming a beacon for many of us with similar dreams.

Came here while browsing around reading about Nick Bradbury. Think it was from microISV.
Good luck with what doing, hope it pans out. I’d like to something like it but keep reading blogs instead!
